A Fort Pierce Police Officer Who Played Barry White While Driving An Amorous Couple To Jail Has Been Suspended

Apparently, his superiors did not find it amusing…

FORT PIERCE, FL—A Fort Pierce police officer was suspended for 20 days without pay last week for reportedly transporting a couple to jail without proper restraints.

While in the back of his patrol car, Officer Doug McNeal allowed the couple to “smoke, kiss and engage in sexual acts in the back of his patrol car last summer, according to an internal affairs report released Friday,” reported Florida Today.

On July 14, McNeal took Zachery Moellendick, 23, of Palm Bay; and Krista Leigh, 24, of Melbourne, into custody for shoplifting at Walmart in the 5100 block of Okeechobee Road.

Moellendick was placed in the back of the patrol car without handcuffs, had a lighter in his pants and a cigarette tucked behind his ear, according to the internal affairs report. Leigh was handcuffed with her arms in front of her.

Neither one of them were placed in seat belts. The report states McNeal violated department policy by not having the pair properly restrained or searched before the trip.

While in the back of the patrol car, McNeal played Barry White’s “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love,” as well as some country songs while the couple kissed and cuddled.

However, according to the internal affairs report, McNeal denied seeing sexual activity.
