CLEARWATER, FL—Although he’s been dead for more than 20 years, people are still apparently passionate about slain-rapper Tupac Shakur.
So much so, in fact, that two men allegedly got into an argument about Shakur that led to a fight that landed Germi Stephens, 34, and Thomas Statkiewicz, 35, in jail.
According to the Clearwater police report, the men “heavily intoxicated” when they argued Wednesday evening on the corner of Chestnut St.and South Myrtle Avenue in Clearwater.
What prompted the fight about Shakur is unclear. However, the Clearwater Police Department received “numerous” emergency calls about a “battery in progress.”
When police arrived, they found Germi Stephens with “heavy facial injuries to include large lumps and his eyes were swollen shut.”
The CPD report states that Stephens was transported to a hospital and, they discovered later, that he had a “broken nose but no brain bleed.”
Through witnesses, the officers were able to apprehend Statkiewicz–who had “minor lacerations and blood on his knuckles.
Statkiewicz admitted to punching Stephens and told the officers he suffered from schizophrenia and bi polar disorder.
Statkiewicz has been charged with felony battery.
