WEST PALM BEACH, FL—A Florida man was arraigned on Sunday morning after stabbing a co-worker with a machete at a mall food court on Saturday night.
According to ActionNewsJax.com, Luis Arias, 43, who works for a cleaning company for the Palm Beach Outlets mall, was upset with a colleague who did not complete his duties, leaving them for Arias.
Arias, angry at his co-worker, went to his locker, grabbed the machete, and stabbed his co-worker several times, according to police.
According to the arrest report, Arias told police this was the first time he took the machete to work. He chased his coworker from the maintenance office, through the mall and into the food court where the victim locked himself inside the security office.
The victim was released from the hospital Sunday morning. He received stitches on the back of his neck, down his left arm and his right hand.
Arias was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and being held on $50,000 bond at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
