CAPE CORAL, FL—Police in Cape Coral are looking for a short Hispanic man who attempted to steal a toilet, some electrical wire, wall plates and breakers from an area Home Depot.
The man was seen walking out of the store with a cart full of the items and confronted in the parking lot by one of the store’s loss prevention members, according to Cape Coral Police Department press release.
Once confronted, the man fled, leaving his stolen goods behind.
“A loss prevention member for Home Depot observed a Hispanic male with a cart full of items pass all points of sale. The loss prevention member stopped the male outside of the store and told him he had committed retail theft. The hispanic male advised the loss prevention member that his friend was going to pay for the items. It was explained to the suspect that he could not leave and needed to follow him back into the store. The Hispanic male then ran towards his vehicle in the parking lot leaving the cart full of items behind. The loss prevention member observed the male enter a dark blue Chevrolet Suburban. The blue Suburban then left the parking lot. The tag was not able to be seen. The male suspect was a Hispanic male medium complexion approximately 5`5″, 140 pounds, and approximately 30 years old.”
